2nd Annual Toy Drive

December 5th, we hosted the second annual Toy Drive at the Double L Bar in Rehoboth Beach, DE.

Once again, our community in Rehoboth Beach and our extended leather families in Washington, DC and Philadelphia rallied in support of the children of the Sussex County HIV/AIDS Wellness Clinic.

Last year, we collected just over 100 toys. This year, in the face of an even more challenging economic time, we collected 164 toys, as well as 12 hats, 7 paris of gloves, 5 packages of socks, and 4 packages of underwear for needy adult clients.

And, with the help of our Naughty Santa and local Butch Bear celebrity Dru Bruin, we collected an additional $207 in donations and proceeds from the 50/50 raffle. These funds were used to purchase 20 sets of scarves, hats, and gloves for the needs of the men and women of the Wellness Clinic and West Rehoboth.

And we're not done yet! CAMP Rehoboth will continue to accept donations until December 15th. Already, they have a large number of toys and clothes above what we collected on Saturday.

Like last year, we had support not only from our local leather community, but from people who don't normally come to the Double L, creating a real energy and fun night. We are clearly building momentum, that will continue next year when we hold our 3rd annual toy drive at the Double L.

The Sussex County HIV/AIDS Wellness Center in Georgetown, DE caters to families outside of the reach of traditional fundraising efforts in Rehoboth Beach. These toys will go a long way to making a difference this holiday season, and in the coming year at the clinic itself for the children of the Wellness Clinic.
